Orhan Bakhyshly will file a complaint with the ECHR
Baku / 20.08.18 / Turan: The Baku Serious Crimes Court will consider the complaint against the personal search of the youth activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) Orkhan Bakhyshly
Such decision was taken today by the Baku Court of Appeal on the complaint of the activist against the decision of the Yasamal Court on August 8, the PFPA reported. According to the same source, the Court of Appeal partially granted the complaint, but did not change the decision of the first instance court.
The court of appeal considered that since the main case of Bakhishly is under consideration in the Baku Serious Crimes Court, the same structure should consider a complaint about illegal personal searches.
However, the defense considers that the complaint of illegal personal examination as a matter of judicial supervision should be considered separately, and the decision on it should be taken separately.
Therefore, the defense intends to apply to the European Court of Human Rights.
Bakhyshly was detained on May 6 allegedly with six gram of heroin. The activist rejected the accusations and said that the police officers had planted drugs to him. PFPA believes that Bakhishly is persecuted for political reasons.
A few days before the arrest, on May 3 at an event on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day at the grave of journalist Elmar Huseynov, Bakhishly accused the country's authorities of the death of the journalist. -06D--

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
