OSTA Calls for Release of Tofig Yagublu
Baku / 12.09.20 / Turan: The Public Council of Talysh of Azerbaijan (PCTA) strongly condemned the sentence to the opposition politician Tofig Yagublu of imprisonment for 4 years 3 months.
PCTA believes that the real reason for the arrest of Yagublu was his harsh criticism of the vices of the system of government in Azerbaijan, the policy of legal nihilism demonstrated by the authorities in relation to all layers of civil society and other shortcomings of the government.
Yagublu has been on a hunger strike for 11 days to protest his conviction to prison on the basis of a falsified criminal charge.
According to information from Yagublu's relatives and doctors, if the hunger strike continues, the politician will face a threat of death.
PCTA strongly condemns the persecution of all those who are fighting to build a free, democratic society in Azerbaijan with equal rights for all, regardless of their ethnicity or religion.
* PCTA was established on December 7 last year by a group of representatives of the Talysh intelligentsia and civil society in Azerbaijan. –06D-

Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
