Penalties for Smoking in Wrong Places Increased
Baku / 02.10.18 / Turan: On October 1, at a meeting of the Milli Majlis, amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses (CAO) were approved, establishing measures of responsibility for the use of cigarettes and tobacco products in prohibited places.
According to the amendments to article 322 of the CAO, a fine of 40 to 50 manats will be imposed for smoking in buses operating on intracity, intercity and interstate routes.
These penalties also apply to publicly owned vehicles and passenger taxis.
Article 212 of the CAO (non-compliance with restrictions on the consumption of tobacco products) was supplemented with clause 5, according to which the creation of conditions for smoking and the supply of smoking in places, except for those specially set aside for this, will be punished with fines of 500 manats, and legal entities will pay a fine of 1,200 manats for this.
For throwing cigarette butts or tobacco products into the environment a penalty of 50 manats was established.
For bringing to smoking and selling cigarettes to minors, fines in the amount of 100 manats are expected.
According to the Law on the Restriction of the Use of Tobacco Products, smoking is prohibited in the following places:
- Educational and training institutions,
- Health facilities, sanatorium-resort institutions, their territories (with the exception of open spaces and specially designated indoor premises),
- All institutions, organizations and enterprises, regardless of ownership, (with the exception of open spaces and specially designated indoor premises),
- Places of sports and other mass events,
- Catering facilities (with the exception of open spaces and specially designated indoor premises),
- Shopping facilities,
- Objects of domestic and social services,
- Theaters, cinemas, exhibition halls, libraries and museums,
- Playgrounds,
- Elevators and common areas of apartment buildings, etc. -06D--
