PFPA Activist Arrested for 20 Days
Baku / 13.04.19 / Turan: An activist of the Popular Front Party (PFPA) Tofig Mammadov, who was detained by police on April 12, was sentenced to 20 days of administrative arrest.
According to PFPA, the reason for his detention is unknown. "According to the official charge, the PFPA activist was found guilty by the Yasamal Court under Article 535-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (disobeying legal requirements of the police). The party called this accusation groundless.
It was not possible to get any comments from the police station and the Ministry of Interior.
Recall that the PFPA activist was detained on April 12 in the afternoon near the Inshaatchilar metro station and taken to the 29th police station of the Yasamal district.
On the eve of every opposition rally, the police conduct a campaign of mass arrests of opposition activists. The next rally of the National Council is scheduled for April 20. Apparently, the authorities have begun preparations.
Recall that after the National Council rally on January 19, 2019, about 50 people were arrested, although the authorities continue to argue that people are not arrested in the country because of their political commitment. -05B-

On Tuesday, the General Prosecutor's Office announced the initiation of new criminal cases against agricultural product exporters who allegedly concealed their earnings abroad. Specifically, the Sumgayit City Prosecutor's Office has opened a criminal case under Articles 208.2.1 and 208.2.2 (failure to return foreign currency to the country in large amounts by prior agreement of a group of individuals) and Article 308.2 (abuse of office causing serious consequences) against officials of the company "SOİL BOONS" LLC – Jahangir Aliyev, Elyar Gadzhiev, Mehman Mirzamedev, Saleh Gabilov, and Aly Aliyev.
