PFPA Activist Detained after Administrative Arrest
Baku / 22.05.20 / Turan: Activist of the Popular Front Party Avaz Ahmedov was taken away by civilians in an unknown direction. This was reported to Turan in PFPA.
Ahmedov was supposed to be released from the Binagadi jail today due to the expiration of his 30-day arrest. However, upon leaving the station, he was again detained by two plainclothes officers who took him away in an unknown direction. Ahmedov was later released. As it turned out, he was taken to the police department, where he had a “preventive conversation” and was released. It was not possible to get comments from the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. —06D-

A fire has erupted at the Experimental and Testing Production of the Scientific Research Institute of SOCAR (the state oil company) in the Surakhani district of Baku, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported. "Thanks to the urgent and necessary measures taken by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the spread of the fire to neighboring areas, including nearby residential buildings, has been prevented," the statement reads. Efforts to extinguish the fire are still ongoing.
