Polad Aslanov was not allowed to meet with his wife
Baku / 25.08.20 / Turan: The wife of Polad Aslanov, the arrested editor of the website Xeberman.com, was not allowed to meet with her husband in the Baku detention center -1 on Saturday.
On her facebook page, she wrote: “They told me, how do we know, you are Polad’s wife, or maybe you divorced?”.
Aslanova notes that when her husband was detained in the State Security Service (SGB), once a week she had an hour-long meeting with her husband and they did not require a marriage certificate from her.
“On the other hand, if they do not know that I am Polad Aslanov's wife, then on what basis do they accept the transfer for him?” Aslanova notes. Later, Polad Aslanov called and said the refusal to meet was illegal.
Gulmira Aslanova appealed to the head of the Baku detention center -1 Elnur Ismayilov with a request to ensure her legal right to meet with her husband.
* Polad Aslanov was detained on June 12, 2019 and arrested for 4 months on charges under Art. 274 (treason) of the Criminal Code. The investigation is being conducted by the State Security Service. On October 5, the arrest period was extended for another 4 months. He is accused of recruiting other journalists to cooperate with the Iranian special services. The Union "For Freedom of Political Prisoners" recognized Polad Aslanov as a political prisoner. -B06-
