Police Interrupted Religious Ceremony in Nardaran

On February 22 police stopped the religious ceremony devoted to the daughter of the Prophet, Fatma Zahra.

The village elder Hajiagha Nuri told Turan the Akhund of the Nardaran mosque (Nardaran Sanctuary) Musa Gasimov organized the ceremony after the evening prayer. Prayers were read, but police squads interrupted the ceremony.

"We were told that the ceremony had not been reported to them. In the future, this needs to be done. The participants dispersed and there was not any opposition," he said.

Recall that on November 26, 2015 the police conducted a special operation in Nardaran, in which 6 people were killed, including two police officers.

After that, the state of emergency was introduced in the village and dozens of people subjected to administrative detention.

The authorities allocated 12 million AZN to the solution of social problems of the village, took control of the local religious sites and appointed a cleric loyal to them as head of the local religious community. -03B-
