Political prisoners apply for parole release
Baku/15.04.19/Turan: Four convicts who were recognized by human rights activists as political prisoners appealed to the courts for release on parole, Turan was told by one of the initiators of the "Free All!" Campaign (# hamısınıazadet), human rights activist Rasul Jafarov.
According to him, after last week petitions were sent to the Prosecutor General"s Office and the Prison Service to take steps to release political prisoners, the convicts themselves began to use legal mechanisms for their early release.
In particular, three convicts in the "case of Sayid Dadashbeyli" applied to district courts for release on parole, in particular Dadashbeyli himself, Jahangir Karimov and Jeyhun Aliyev.
Dadashbeyli and Karimov from a term of 13.5 years of imprisonment left 1 year and 3 months.
Hepatit-B suffering from Aliyev from a 14 year prison term remains 1 year 9 months.
All three have the right to request parole in connection with serving more than ¾ of the sentence.
The regional correspondent of the Azadlig newspaper, Zie Asadli, who was convicted in September 2017 to three years in prison, also wrote a statement. He has the right to parole in connection with the completion of half of the sentence. -06D--
