Prison Service confirms continued hunger strike of I. Rahimov
Baku/02.09.19/Turan: Ikram Rahimov, editor of the realliq.info site located in the Medical Unit of jail-1, continues the hunger strike that began in early August.
According to relatives of Rahimov, they visited him on August 31. "His health is extremely serious. He still refuses to eat and threatens to injure himself if he is forced to eat, "said family members.
Commenting on the situation, the representative of the Prison Service told Turan that Ikram Rahimov was under medical supervision. "There is no pressure on him to end the hunger strike," said the same source.
* Rahimov was detained on October 26, 2018, charged with extortion by threats and arrested.
On June 12, the court sentenced him to 5.5 years in prison. On August 7, a preliminary hearing was held in the Baku Court of Appeal in the case of Ragimov. The defense requested a second judicial investigation, new interrogations of witnesses and victims due to falsification of their testimonies in the trial court.
The lawyer also asked to appoint a re-examination of the audio recording of Rahimov's telephone conversations for the same reason. However, the applications were not granted. Rahimov began a hunger strike in protest.-03B-
