Prosecution: We Fight Against Corruption
On Wednesday, the Attorney General’s Office held a press conference on measures to combat corruption in 2012.
Kamran Aliyev, the head of the Department to fight corruption and Vusal Huseynov, Secretary of the State Commission against Corruption, reported on the work done.
Kamran Aliyev, reported the 161 "hotline" received 5143 calls, 34 of them were prosecuted, and materials on 17 cases were sent to the courts.
Operational departments of the Prosecutor Office examined 369 applications, 29 people were detained at the time of the crime, and investigations were held. Materials on 23 cases were sent to the courts.
Among the identified corruption cases mentioned were: the “Bina” settlement of the head of the municipality, deputy head of the State Labor Inspectorate, and the police inspector of Sabunchu district.
In 2012, the investigations department fighting corruption completed 170 criminal cases against 298 people, sending them to the courts. In particular, 52 people were accused of taking bribes, 51on the abuse of power, 75 people on abuse of position and fraud.
In 2012, lawsuits were filed against three employees of the Prosecutor Office; four other employees were punished administratively on corruption. -16D-
