Prosecutor's Office Refutes Photo Depicting Torture in Azerbaijan
Baku / 12.08.20 / Turan: The country's Prosecutor General's Office issued a refutation on August 12 about the photographs depicting torture and inhuman treatment of those arrested. These photos appeared on social networks on August 11 with information that these pictures were taken by police officers at the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. So they mocked the arrested participants of the demonstration on July 14-15.
The Prosecutor General's Office called this publication a fake. "Allegations that these photographs were taken on the territory of the country are outright lies and inventions and are intended to misinform the public and violate stability, cast a shadow on the work of law enforcement agencies," the Prosecutor General's Office said in a statement.
The report goes on to say that the persons depicted in the photo were not involved in the investigation by the prosecutor's office as witnesses or accused.
This statement by the Prosecutor General's Office raises a number of questions:
1) If these persons were not involved by the prosecutor's office, does this mean that they were also not involved by the police?
2) If these pictures were not taken in Azerbaijan, how does the prosecutor's office know their names and that they were not involved?
3) Why doesn't the prosecutor's office say anything about the person in the last photo? Is he allegedly one of the police officers who took the photo?
4) And finally, the last and most important thing: in one of the photos, against the background of a naked man, there is the flag of Azerbaijan on the cabinet.
Maybe the prosecutor's office will explain in which foreign country the flags of Azerbaijan are in the institutions? -02B-
