Protest action against deprivation of liberty in Ukraine of Azerbaijani veteran
Baku/08.12.22/Turan: A group of veterans of the Second Karabakh War held a protest rally near the Ukrainian Embassy in Baku against imprisonment a participant in the hostilities in 2020 in Ukraine of Misir Gasimly and his friend Subhan Guliyev for 8 years. The police did not allow the protesters to approach the embassy building, so the resolution was read out not far from the diplomatic mission.
The protesters believe that Gasimly was convicted on trumped-up charges. He is being persecuted because of an incident with a person of Armenian nationality, whom Gasimly slandered.
Gasimly's lawyer said that despite the lack of evidence, the court sentenced him to 8 years in prison. The protesters believe that the unjustified persecution of Qasimly casts a shadow on the justice of Ukraine and damages Ukrainian-Azerbaijani relations. They demanded the immediate termination of the criminal case and the release of Gasimli.
In turn, the Azerbaijani embassy in Kyiv stated that it was taking all necessary measures within the framework of the law to conduct a fair trial of Azerbaijani citizens Misir Gasimly and Subhan Guliyev.
On this occasion, 10 notes were sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, many letters were addressed to other institutions. The defense is currently working on filing an appropriate appeal. The Embassy continues to take all necessary measures within the framework of the law to conduct a fair trial, the report says. ---06B---

By that night, however, the mysterious visitor had departed, loaded onto a cargo platform and whisked away to the airport.
