Protest action of animal defenders
Baku/05.04.21/Turan: On Monday, a group of animal defenders organized a protest on the Fountain Square in the center of Baku. They chanted: "Stop killing animals!", "Do not kill, let live!", "Observe the convention! “ etc.
The protesters demanded to comply with the requirements of the European Convention on the Protection of Domestic Animals and punish those responsible for shooting dogs. They believe that the Toplan Center for the Care of Homeless Dogs is now performing the functions of a "dog box".
The police stopped the action by detaining several participants, including Zahra Kalandarova, Kamran Mammadli, Elkhan Mirzoyev and Sanay Gahramanli. Even before the start of the action, its organizer, Nijat Ismayilov, was detained.
One of the protesters announced the need to stop slaughtering livestock in the streets. “Every day I see animal blood in front of the windows. We are tired of killing animals in front of people,” said the protester.
Another participant in the action demanded that they stop hunting animals and wild birds, including by foreign tourists. –21C03 / 06
