Public Alliance Demands Release of Political Prisoners

The Public Alliance Azerbaijan without Political Prisoners made a statement on the situation of human rights in the country.

The authors of the statement believe that the release of the couple Yunus was not a manifestation of humanism by official Baku, and was just a retreat before the pressure and demands of the international community, because they are innocent and were to be justified.

The authors of the statement also touched on the arrest of the Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Fuad Gahramanli, who was also arrested unreasonably, and demand his immediate release.

The document also regards the political prisoners Tofig Yagublu, Ilgar Mammadov, ex-minister Ali Insanov, and the fact of non-compliance with the decisions of the European Court in respect of them.

The statement authors also believe the charges against Taleh Bagirzadeh and members of the movement Muslim Unity are illegal and unjustified.

The statement includes an appeal to the country's authorities to stop repressions and release political prisoners in detention. -05D04-
