Relatives of the victims in the "Terter case" demanded punishment of the perpetrators
Baku/03.02.23/Turan: On February 3, relatives of the victims of the "Terter case" held another event at the "Research Center against Torture".
They again raised the issue of gross and massive violations of the law in this case and expressed dissatisfaction that those who sanctioned mass torture and issued unjustified sentences have not yet been punished. Relatives told the details of torture and illegal actions of the investigating authorities. Parents called on President Ilham Aliyev to review the charges in the Terter case.
* After the April battles of 2016, a group of servicemen was accused of treason. The joint statement of the Prosecutor General's Office, the State Security Service, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that the military was spying for Armenia.
However, in 2019 it became known that more than 100 soldiers and officers detained in May-June 2017 were tortured. 25 servicemen were sentenced to long terms of imprisonment, 9 more people died as a result of torture.
Later, some of the defendants were acquitted, and those responsible for torture were arrested. The process of acquittal of illegally convicted continues. Last year, on October 5, the courts acquitted 16 people, and on December 6, another 19 people. -0-

Today, on September 26, a meeting is expected in New York between the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia regarding peace negotiations. The meeting is set to take place with the participation of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
