Retired prosecutor continues hunger strike
Today is the fourth day of a hunger strike announced by Rufat Safarov, an investigator of Zardab regional Prosecutor's Office. According to Rufat’s wife Nuray Safarova, her husband feels exhausted, suffers from unstable blood pressure, and they have to call a doctor very often. "Until now, no one visited Rufat, no one listened to him, nobody interests in him, even the human rights organizations," she said. Rufat Safarov resigned on 21 December protesting against rampant injustice and pressure on his father Eldar Sabiroglu. His home and office were searched, and personal belongings were seized. In protest, Safarov declared a hunger strike on December 21. The Commission of the Attorney General Office is currently conducting a comprehensive review of the activity of the Prosecutor Office of Zardab region. -03B04-
