Salaev, who is on a hunger strike, fell into a coma
Baku/26.04.23/Turan: PFPA activist Zamin Salaev, who is on a hunger strike for the 79th day in jail, fell into a coma on April 23, Nemat Kerimli, a lawyer who visited him in the Baku pre-trial detention center-1 reported. "He regained consciousness only after an intravenous infusion," the lawyer said.
Salaev has lost 40 kg., has severe kidney pain, suffers from insomnia. Nevertheless, Salaev continues his hunger strike, demanding his release. Currently, Salaev has been transferred to a separate cell and is under the supervision of doctors. On May 2, a preparatory court hearing in the Salaev case is scheduled.
* On February 8, the Garadagh District Court of Baku arrested Salaev for three months. A criminal case has been initiated against him under the Article 221.3 of the Criminal Code. The activist faces up to 5 years in prison.
Zamin Salaev said in court that the accusation made against him is false and he is being punished for criticizing the authorities in social networks. Human rights activists recognized Salaev as a political prisoner. ---03B06---
