Saleh Rustamov's arrest extended
Baku / 03.09.18 / Turan: Today the Nasimi district court granted the request of the investigative body on the extension of the preventive measure in the form of arrest against Saleh Rustamov, the former head of the Gadabay region, until December 18, 2018, according to his brother Taleh Rustamov.
According to him, S. Rustamov and his nephew Vidadi Rustamli still do not give meetings and telephone talks with relatives. With regard to V.Rustamli, the court decided to extend the arrest for a further three months on August 31. Bahruz Bayramov, the lawyer of T.Rustamov told Turan that his client in court had not expressed his consent to the extension of the arrest and stated that he did not consider himself guilty.
The defense prepares complaints about the violation of S.Rustamov's rights with his relatives. S. Rustamov and V.Rustamli, according to their relatives, were arrested in May on charges of illegal drug trafficking. However, on May 26 the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan reported the arrest of S.Rustamov and V.Rustamli together with the activists of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan Agil Maharramov, Ruslan and Nasirli and Babek Hasanov in the case of "illegal financing" of the PFPA. Arrested persons were charged with illegal business, laundering money obtained by criminal means, etc. PFPA rejected accusations of illegal financing. Human rights activists recognized all the arrested as political prisoners.-03B06-
