Seven people arrested in the case of the collapse of the bridge
Baku / 21.06.18 / Turan: The Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Ecology of Azerbaijan issued a joint statement following the investigation of the criminal case on the collapse of the bridge in the town of Goychay. Heads of four enterprises and three individuals were arrested for unlawful actions. Two people are taken under police control.
The investigation revealed that the reason for the collapse of the bridge was the illegal exploitation of the sand pit. In this regard, in various parts of the country, the activity of 81 sand quarries out of 250 was tested.
The monitoring showed that some state bodies and entrepreneurs rudely violated the standards of exploitation of quarries, damaging the environment, as well as infrastructure, water supply systems, creating a threat to shore fortifications, the report said. The damage cause to the state totaled 16 million manats. Lawsuits have been filed on illegal entrepreneurship, violation of land use rules and abuse were opened on the fact, it was said in the message.
On June 2, due to flooding in the Goychay River, the bridge on the Baku-Shamakha-Yevlakh motorway was partially destroyed. -02D-
