Sevinj Sadigova: "My husband is on the verge of death"
Baku/27.11.20/Turan: Journalist Afgan Sadigov has been on hunger strike for 24 days and refuses even to take water for the fifth day, said his wife Sevinj Sadigova. On Friday, she held a solo picket in front of the Baku Court of Appeal, unfurling a poster: "Freedom for Afghan Sadigov!"
According to her, during the hunger strike, not a single government agency inquired about the fate of Afgan, who, according to her, was "on the verge of death."
“If he dies, the responsibility will fall on the authorities and hurt the country's image,” she said, accusing the Court of Appeal of delaying her husband's complaint.
Only on November 30, a panel of judges will be appointed, which within 15 working days will set the date for considering the complaint.
“They don’t care that during this time a person can fall into a coma or die,” said Sadigova. The court guards did not let Sadigova into the building to transmit the appeal with a request to speed up the consideration of the complaint.
* The head of Azel.TV Afgan Sadigov was arrested on charges of extortion through threats in May this year. On November 3, the court sentenced him to seven years in prison. On November 4, he went on a hunger strike in protest, considering the sentence unfair. - 06D –
