Sister of Former Head of IBA Asks President for Help
Baku / 06.07.20 / Turan: Amina Hajiyeva, sister of the former head of the International Bank of Azerbaijan, once again appealed to President Ilham Aliyev for help.
“My brother Jahangir, who is being held in Prison No. 13, is chronically ill. On the night of June 2 to 3, he had a pre-stroke condition. Doctors said he needed serious treatment. However, he is not being transferred to a medical facility or to the medical unit of Prison No. 13 for temporary treatment. I have repeatedly appealed to the Main Medical Department of the Ministry of Justice, but to no avail. After all, a prisoner has the right to treatment, and this indifference is incomprehensible.
I would like to draw your attention to this difficult situation and ask for help.
I constantly appeal to you because I have no other choice. I am a doctor, and my inability to help the patient brings me great suffering,” writes Amina Hajiyeva. —0--

On a brisk November evening, the residents of Baku gathered along the waterfront of the Caspian Sea, stunned by what appeared to be the washed-up body of a colossal whale. At 16 meters long, the creature’s seemingly lifeless form and pungent odor left many convinced they were witnessing an ecological tragedy. By that night, however, the mysterious visitor had departed, loaded onto a cargo platform and whisked away to the airport.
