Smuggling charge brought against head of «Channel-13»
Baku/19.12.23/Turan: Aziz Orujev, the head of Youtube TV "Kana-13", who was arrested for illegally building a house,is charged with money smuggling. His wife, Lamiya Orujeva, informed the Turan agency.
According to her, Aziz was taken from the remand centre to the Sabail police station and is being investigated there today.
Apparently, Orujev will also be accused of illegally financing «Kanal-13» from abroad. In other words, of receiving grants from Western donors.
At 14:00, lawyer Bahruz Bayramov confirmed to Turan that Orujev has been charged with money smuggling by a group of persons (Article 206.3.2 of the Criminal Code).
The case concerns a small amount of money that Orujev's brother Anar sent to him from Europe through a person he knew, the lawyer said.
Aziz Orujev has denied the charges, calling them unfounded. Orujev faces between seven and 12 years of imprisonment under an appropriate Article.
Recall that Aziz Orujev had already been sentenced to six years of imprisonment in 2017 for illegal entrepreneurship. In 2018, the Supreme Court reviewed the sentence and cancelled the charge of illegal entrepreneurship. -02-
