Soyudl Commission reports first findings to Prime Minister
Baku / 06.25.23 / Turan: On June 25, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov heard a preliminary report from the commission created to investigate the situation in the village of Soyudlu in the Gedabay region. This is stated in the message of the government.
At the meeting, the Chairman of the Commission, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev reported to the Prime Minister on the preliminary results of monitoring and assessing the current situation in the field of waste from the gold mine in the village of Soyudlu.
He noted that the relevant structures assess the impact on the environment in the territory, including analyzes of water and soil samples and check the quality of atmospheric air.
At the same time, the company operating in the territory is required to fully comply with the quality standards of water, soil and atmospheric air, as well as all other environmental standards adopted in accordance with the signed agreement and reflected in the environmental impact assessment document.
The meeting discussed the preliminary results of the monitoring, as well as the tasks facing the commission.
The Prime Minister gave relevant instructions for a more thorough study of citizens' appeals in connection with the protection of the health of residents and the environment and the continuation of work on assessing the current situation.
The public will be provided with additional information on the results of the monitoring and evaluation carried out in Seyudlu village.
On June 20, the residents of Seyudlu held a protest action, claiming that a nearby gold mine was polluting the environment. The police violently dispersed the action, 10 people were injured. At the same time, five people were detained and arrested for 20 days. Several more people were later detained. However, law enforcement agencies do not provide information on the number of detainees.-3B06
