Speaker of parliament calls on to read the Koran in Azerbaijani
Today at the opening of the spring session of the Milli Mejlis, the speaker of parliament, Oqtay Asadov, made today a sensational statement calling to read the Koran in the Azerbaijani language. At first deputy Govhar Bakhshaliyeva proposed to discuss issues of mutual relations the state-religion. In particular, she called to improve the level of training of religious leaders , which remains low.
Then speaker Oktay Asadov said that at religious activities Koran should be read in the Azerbaijani language , and the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations will consider this question.
"Our religious leaders read prayers from the Koran in Arabic, but nobody understands them, and prayer is often a formality," said Asadov.
"The Koran was competently and accurately translated into Azerbaijani language. When it is read in Arabic, 80 % do not understandable. But in some villages of Baku Koran is read in the Azerbaijani language. We should see, if we need these statements, let them read in the Azerbaijani language that everyone understands," said the speaker , but did not specify in what villages and what specific statements he means. -16D-
