The Prosecutor General's Office (PG), the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the State Security Service (SSS) said it was established that the defendant in the murder of the deputy head of the Gence police Rashad Beyukishiyev was staying in the Morany village of the Shamkir region. During the operation to detain him, Beyukshishiev committed armed resistance and was killed.
According to the same source, one of the attackers on policemen in Gence, Samir Ibrahimov, was arrested earlier. Prior to that, law enforcement authorities detained 10 more participants in the riots.
It should be noted that the day before the leaders of MIA, SSS and PG arrived in Gence. They are in charge of the operative-search activities on the spot.
Recall that on July 10 in the evening in the second largest city of Azerbaijan, Gence, there were mass protests of citizens demanding the resignation of the head of executive power Elmar Veliyev.
During the clashes between the citizens and the police, two senior police officers were killed: the deputy chiefs of the city police and one of the districts of Gence.
The authorities rushed to declare the protesters pro-Iranian radicals, who are trying to destabilize the situation in the country. However, there was no evidence of this, and the arbitrariness and illegal actions of the Mayor Elmar Veliyev, who was wounded with a bullet by a local resident Yunis Safarov on July 3, was not assessed. -02D-
