The accusations of the journalist tightened up
Baku/03.08.17/Turan: The case of imprisoned journalist Elchin Ismayilli was sent to court, his lawyer Elchin Sadigov told RadioAzadlig. According to the lawyer, he discussed today with his client a preparatory meeting of the upcoming process. The lawyer also noted that the journalist y accusations against the journalist were toughned. Earlier, Elchin Ismayilli was charged under Articles 182 (extortion of money by threats) and 308 (abuse of office). "The Articles were toughned. As a result of the investigation, he was charged with three Articles of the Criminal Code, the third Article is 311 (taking bribes). On these charges, he faces 8 to 12 years of imprisonment." The case was sent for consideration to the Sheki Serious Crimes Court. However, the date of the process has not yet been named.
An independent journalist Elchin Ismayilli was arrested on February 17. According to the accusation, the journalist extorted money from an employee of the department of culture and tourism. The latter applied to the Ministry of National Security, whose employees arrested the journalist. According to the lawyer, the case was falsified and the journalist was arrested for his professional activities."Elchin and the above-mentioned employee of the Culture Department have long known each other, the journalist asked him for money - 1,000 manat." When they met and handed over money, the journalist was arrested," said the lawyer. -0-
