The Attorney General about kidnapping Mahir Abdullayev
The investigation in the case of disappearance of Mahir Abdullayev (brother of Elshad Abdullayev, the Rector of International University) is ongoing, said the General Prosecutor Zakir Garalov in an interview with reporters on Monday.
According to him, all videos submitted by E.Abdullayev are being investigated. He also noted that Mahir Abdullayev’s family, who was an employee of the National Security Ministry, has not cooperated with the investigation over the last year and four months.
Then Garalov said that during the investigation Elshad Abdullayev “established relationships with various criminal elements," claiming that his brother was kidnapped.
"However, the investigation has not proved murder or kidnapping Mahir Abdullayev," said Garalov.
"Elshad Abdullayev stated allegedly that he had given money to different people to release his brother, and he has such materials. He presented these videos to investigation, which also is being investigated," said the Attorney General.
According Garalov, the General Prosecutor Office, Ministry of Interior and National Security take necessary measures to find Mahir Abdullayev. Mahir Abullayev disappeared in October 2003, and so far there is no information about him. His brother claims that Maher was kidnapped by a criminal group in law enforcement agencies, similar to Haji Mamedov’s gang.—03D06-
