The court did not transfer the PFPA activist to house arrest
Baku / 25.09.20 / Turan: On Friday the Baku Court of Appeal (BCA) rejected a complaint about transferring an activist of the Popular Front party Seymur Ahmedov to house arrest, said the lawyer Elchin Sadigov.
Ahmedov was arrested in connection with the July 15 Karabakh demonstration. At the trial, he said that he did not commit illegal actions; and his arrest was a political order because of his membership in the Popular Front Party.
However, the Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the Nasimi District Court to refuse to transfer Ahmedov to house arrest.
Ahmedov was charged under the Article 186.2.1 (damage or destruction of the victim's property), Article 233 (violation of public order), 315 (resisting the police) and 127.2.1 (causing damage to the health of a police officer) of the Criminal Code.
Another 17 PFPA members were involved in this case. All of them were recognized as political prisoners by human rights activists.-03B-
