The court found the journalist guilty
Baku/02.04.21/Turan: Today the Khachmaz District Court, having accepted a private criminal charge filed by the head of the Executive Power of the Guba District (168 km north of Baku) Ziyaddin Aliyev, and found a freelance journalist Jamil Mammadli guilty under the Article 147-2 (defamation of a serious crime) and 148 (insult) of the Criminal Code. Mammadli himself told Turan about this. The journalist denied the accusations, calling them far-fetched and intended to punish his professional activities.
“In fact, it’s not me who should be tried, but the prosecutor’s office should investigate the facts stated on my YouTube channel and Facebook account,” the journalist said.
Jamil Mammadli is known as a freelancer covering events in the northern region of the country. For a long time he was a regional correspondent for Radio Azadlig (Azerbaijan service of Radio Liberty). — 03B06-
