The Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal of the Popular Front activists
Baku / 08.05.19 / Turan: On May 8, the Baku Court of Appeal, chaired by Ramiz Bayramov, considered the complaint of activists of the Popular Front Party: Salekh Rustamov, Agyl Maharramov, and Babayek Hasanov.
The court rejected their complaint with a request to acquit in the absence of corpus delicti.
The defense stated that the trial court did not prove the guilt of the defendants, and the case itself was a political order.
The defense also asked to cancel the decision of the court on the confiscation of the property of Saleh Rustamov. Protection intends to file a cassation appeal.
On February 27 Rustamov was sentenced to 7 years and three months on charges of legalizing illegally obtained income and illegal business. However, in reality they were imprisoned for providing financial assistance to the families of arrested members of the Popular Front Party.
Babak Hasanov and Agyl Maharramov were sentencedto three years of imprisonment on the same charges.-21B-
