The ECHR granted the complaint of journalist Sh. Chobanoglu, the government will pay him 6 thousand euros
Baku/07.09.23/Turan: On September 7, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) decided on the complaint of Azerbaijani journalist Shahvelad Chobanoglu.
The complaint concerned the ban on the journalist's departure from the country imposed by the Azerbaijani authorities in 2014. The journalist appealed against the restriction of his freedom of movement.
The Azerbaijani government agreed to recognize the violation of his rights and pay him compensation in the amount of 6 thousand euros and offered to exclude the complaint from the cases considered by the ECHR. The Strasbourg Court granted the government's request, taking into account its readiness to pay compensation to Chobanoglu.
Earlier, in 2020, the authorities lifted the ban on leaving the country from the journalist. ---21B06---
