The heat is coming back

A new group of migrants from the Garadagh district of Baku has arrived in the city of Shusha, the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons reported. Seventy-nine Shusha residents, comprising 21 families, have returned to their hometown.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan has informed Elhan Shainoglu, a political scientist and head of the Atlas Analytical Center, that his candidacy for the upcoming parliamentary elections has been rejected. Shainoglu disclosed the decision via social media platform X, stating that the CEC notified him by phone, just 30 minutes before the expiration of the seven-day response period.

Namizad Safarov, a candidate for deputy in Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, has criticized the Central Election Commission (CEC) for its unpreparedness in holding democratic elections. Safarov, running from the First Nariman electoral district and serving as the self-nominated coordinator of the Committee against Repression and Torture, voiced his concerns to Turan after successfully collecting signatures from his supporters.
