The oppositionist was sent for compulsory treatment to a psychiatric clinic
Baku/07.06.23/Turan: On June 6, A member of the Azerbaijani Party of Democracy and Well-being, Ziyafet Abbasova, was placed in the Republican Psycho-Neurological Dispensary N1 in the village of Mashtaga, the head of the party Gubad Ibadoglu said. According to him, Abbasova's relatives were informed about this only the next day.
Ibadoglu noted that Abbasova is absolutely mentally healthy and she was sent to a mental hospital because of criticism of the authorities.
In addition, according to him, the measures against Abbasova are aimed at intimidating the people, suppressing critical voices, and suppressing the exposure of corruption facts. He demanded Abbasova's release.
The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that Abbasova was placed in a mental hospital on the basis of an appeal from the management of the shelter in which she is being held due to health problems. "Her treatment is currently ongoing," the Interior Ministry said.
In turn, the deputy chairman of the party, Adalat Yusibov, told Turan that the police had already warned Abbasova that if she did not stop her speeches on the Internet and media interviews, she would be "put in a mental hospital."
During one of the last interviews with one of the YouTube channels, the police approached her and said that this was her last warning and if she did not draw conclusions, she would end up "on a scale", that is, in a mental hospital.
"We went to the hospital, but we were not allowed to meet with Ziyafet Abbasova, referring to the fact that medical procedures were being carried out," Yusibov said. ---06B---
