The trial of Aslan Ismayilov continued
Baku/31.05.18/Turan: The trial in the case of the lawyer Aslan Ismayilov continued under the chairmanship of Azer Tagiyev in the Sabail district court. The businessman Murvat Hasanli sued the lawyer, accusing him of slander (Article 147.2 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan). The plaintiff claims that the defendant slandered him, calling him a fraudster.
During the meeting, Ismayilov appealed to the court with a number of petitions, one of which was a request to attach to the case documents proving that Hasanli fraudulently appropriated funds, more precisely 1 467 000 manats belonging to the Turkish businessman Oral, whose rights he defended in state structures Ismailov .
The lawyer noted that after the discovery of the money was revealed, Hasanli was arrested by the police, but after a few days he paid Oral 50,000 manats and promised to pay the rest of the money within a month, signed a debt contract and was released after that. However, he did not keep his promise until now. The court granted the petition.According to Ismayilov, he is satisfied with the progress of the trial.
During the meeting a conflict arose between the plaintiff and the defendant. So, Hasanli began to offend Ismayilov and those present. However, the court stopped the incident and appointed a trial for June 14. -0-

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony. The invitation, delivered by Member of the European Parliament Michael Bloss at the COP29 climate conference, comes as Ibadoglu remains under house arrest and prohibited from leaving Azerbaijan.
