This summer, the number of mudslides and floods is 2.7 times higher than last year
As a result of intense torrential rains in July 2024, floods and mudslides occurred on many rivers of the Greater and Lesser Caucasus, as well as in the Lankaran-Astara region. According to the report of the National Hydrometrology Service of Azerbaijan, 43 floods were recorded in the country in July alone, by 2.7 times more than in July 2023. This is the highest rate for floods in the last 50 years.
Because of heavy precipitation the water level in the country's rivers, especially in the Greater and Lesser Caucasus, Lankaran-Astara region, turned out to be higher than normal.
