Traffic paralyzed on several highways of country
Baku/09.01.23/Turan: Snowfalls and ice last night paralyzed traffic on a number of mountain and inter-regional roads in Azerbaijan.
In particular, up to 100 cars got stuck on the Baku-Shamakhi-Gabala highway and had to spend the night on the road. The most difficult situation is on mountain passes - Achydarya (58 km), Muganly Ismayilly (130 km), Agsu (145 km).
Since the morning of 9 January the ice has also seriously hampered traffic on the road Baku-Guba and a segment of Baku-Sumqayit. According to the traffic police, over 10 chain accidents have been registered on this highway since this morning. -02D-

A fire has erupted at the Experimental and Testing Production of the Scientific Research Institute of SOCAR (the state oil company) in the Surakhani district of Baku, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported. "Thanks to the urgent and necessary measures taken by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the spread of the fire to neighboring areas, including nearby residential buildings, has been prevented," the statement reads. Efforts to extinguish the fire are still ongoing.
