Trial over Afgan Sadigov Begins
Baku / 19.08.20 / Turan: The day before, a preparatory meeting was held at the Baku Grave Crimes Court on the case of the editor of the Azel TV website Afgan Sadigov.
The court dismissed the defense motion and scheduled a hearing on the merits for September 1. Turan was informed about this by the wife of the defendant Sevinj Sadigova.
Let us remind you that Sadigov was detained on May 13, and the Binagadi court arrested him for 4 months on charges of extortion through threats.
According to the investigation, Sadigov was detained together with the editor of the Xəbəfakt.az publication Sakit Muradov red-handed while receiving a bribe of 10 thousand manats. At the same time, Muradov was not taken into custody. Sadigova stated that a provocation had been committed against her husband.
According to her, Sakit Muradov took part in the provocation by making a deal with law enforcement agencies. Yesterday, after the trial, Sadigova publicly accused him of this. However, Muradov repeated the version of the investigation that Sadigov extorted money from officials of the Executive Power of Sumgayit.
The video of the verbal skirmish was published by Sevinj Sadigova on her Facebook page.
Note that Afgan Sadigov is known for scandalous publications about the involvement of state officials in corruption and crime. Because of this, he was persecuted and tried more than once. —06D-

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35. The court ordered the property be returned to its rightful owner, Samaya Aliyeva. However, the Ministry of Justice intervened, citing a presidential decree from July 1, 2004, which approved a state program for improving the living and working conditions of refugees. Under this directive, refugees without alternative housing cannot be evicted until they are provided with a replacement residence by the Executive Authority.
