Two PFPA activists detained

Two activists of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) were detained in Baku and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on January 15, the opposition organization said in a statement.

In particular, as the chairman of the Ordubad district organization of the PFPA Bahlul Muradov told Turan, on the evening of January 15, the police took away from his home in the village of Ustyupu local activist Asker Agasoy.

He was taken to the Ordubad district police department.

"Asker Agasoy was detained in connection with critical expressions on social networks. Unfortunately, today the police refused to tell us anything about his detention. Obviously, tomorrow we will find out what decision will be made regarding him," Muradov said.

And in Baku, Ramil Eynaliyev, a member of the Lankaran branch of the PFPA, who is in the capital earning money by day labor, was detained.

He was taken to the 3rd department of the Khazar district police department and will likely appear in court on January 16, the party said. The PFPA believes that both activists were detained in connection with their criticism of the authorities on social networks.
