Prisoners of colony No. 6 went on hunger strike
Baku/11.05.21/Turan: The authorities of colony No. 6 of the Penitentiary Service suspended the mailing of letters of prisoners, deciding to punish them in this way. This was reported on May 11 by the human rights organization "Line of Defense".
"As a sign of protest, a group of prisoners has been on hunger strike since May 11. So far the name of one of the protesters is known - Mammadli Bahruz Rafig oglu, the names of the others are still unknown," the organization said in a statement.
The "Line of Defense" calls on the management of the prison service to listen to the prisoners and solve their problems.
According to the same source, a few days ago, 10 prisoners of colony No. 6 tried to commit suicide, they cut their wrists, thus protesting against the arbitrariness of the colony administration and the lawlessness prevailing there.
"Instead of providing first aid to the detainees, they were put in a punishment cell, subjected to additional torture, "the Defense Line said in a statement.
The Prison Service did not comment on this statement. - 03D-
