Artifacts from Azykh cave delivered to Baku
Baku / 24.11.20 / Turan: Archaeological finds from the Azykh cave were delivered to Baku, the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences said.
Note that the most ancient primitive man in Azerbaijan - the Azykh cave is located in the Khojavend region (Hadrut). For almost 30 years, this territory was under Armenian occupation. During this period, the Armenians attracted foreign scientists to carry out excavations and represented this place, an ancient settlement related to Armenian history.
According to the professor of the Institute of Archeology Najaf Museibli, several days ago, during a search of a house in the village of Azikh, Khojavend region, the Azerbaijani military found boxes with the inscription “Azikh” and archaeological materials. The state structures of Azerbaijan were informed about this.
During the inspection, it was established that the boxes contain materials collected during the Armenian occupation. These are finds relating to the Paleolithic period, all of them in 90 plastic boxes were delivered to Baku on November 23 and placed in the Archaeological Fund of the Institute. All finds will be studied and analyzed at the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography.
* Azikh cave was discovered by Azerbaijani scientists in 1960. Its area is 800 square meters. During excavation under the leadership of Mammadali Huseynov, the lower jaw of a young woman was found, dating back about 300 thousand years. -0-
