Baku Jazz Festival, chatty diplomats and ministers
Start was given to the Baku International Jazz Festival, which takes place simultaneously in several halls of the city. As always, the organizers try to attach to this event a special significance and scope. As usual, to give the coverage of the festival a film crew "Euronews" has been invited to show there in Europe, how cool we are.
Previously, unlike in recent years, the festivals were organized by musicians, and not and those who lives and knows jazz. Therefore, that the tone at jazz events set music, and not the ambitions of politicians in skirt. Previously , there was the Baku jazz school and traditions. Now the highest "authority" in the music are the same figures. If to believe the official propaganda, just thank to them there is everything in this country, and without them this music could not be understood.
All these thoughts do not leave the person when you see in the halls overdressed ladies and people sagely evaluating the performance of the musicians.
On October 20 Turan correspondent became an unwitting witness in the Mugham Center, where performed the quartet Terri Lyne Carrington. In a nearby chair were two diplomats, who most of the evening were talking about abstract topics, and did not hesitate to criticize the organizers for the "show off", referring to the half-empty hall. A little later they one of our ministers joined them, and friendly patting an ambassador of one of the friendly countries, "Oh, yesterday was more interesting."
After the concert, this minister also casually turned to the "Euronews" reporter and said : "Well, hello, how are you doing?" Without waiting for a reply from the French and English-speaking reporter, the minister continued to chat with diplomats.
There were also two girls who obviously got to the concert by accident. The whole evening they were writing sms and giggled. Meanwhile, the announcer with pathos thanked the organizers for a brilliant event, confirming the high standard of the festival, for the special status of jazz in the country.
He should only add gratitude for our happy childhood. It would be unfair to note all bad moments. Most of the audience was music lovers, who warmly accepted the performance of the musicians. Unfortunately, almost all of them were older people, but they have proved that the tradition of the Baku Jazz are still alive.-02V-
