EU Ambassador: Preservation of Cultural Heritage of Baku Acquires Special Meaning
Baku /28.10.19 / Turan: This year the second Fantasy festival of cultural heritage is held and the increase in the number of embassies participating in its program is pleasing.
Denis Daniilidis, First Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan, said this at a press conference on the start of the Fantasy festival.
He noted that the name of the festival was taken from a bath in Baku, which has a unique architecture. According to him, this shows the architectural diversity of Baku.
The head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan, Kestutis Jankauskas, in turn, said that Baku is currently demonstrating new examples of architecture. K. Jankauskas emphasized that a new general plan of Baku is being developed, and against this background, the preservation of cultural heritage takes on special meaning.
“Through this festival, we are building bridges between cultures,” said the EU Ambassador.
The French Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Zachary Gros, speaking at a press conference, said that his country would be pleased to contribute to this festival, as this event is important. “EU support in this matter is important. We must preserve the cultural heritage that we received from our ancestors and are obliged to pass them on to future generations,” Z. Gros said.
The Ambassador of the Netherlands Otto Kravers, in turn, recalled that their country participated in the first festival. “This is an indicator of our assessment of cultural heritage conservation efforts. Like last year, we will organize a photo exhibition “The Black City and the White City”, which is designed to prove that the old can coexist with the new,” said the Ambassador of the Netherlands.
Note that the second festival of cultural heritage Fantasy will be held from November 1 to 15. Within the framework of the festival, photo exhibitions, concerts, film screenings, master classes, and theater performances will be organized.
The events will be held in Baku, Ganja and Gabala. As part of the festival, an event dedicated to the Day of Albanian-Udian Culture will be organized in the village of Nij of the Gabala region.

In the glittering chaos of the Eurovision Song Contest, the simplicity and melodicism of Azerbaijani duo Fahree and Ilkin Dovlatov stood out — not for capturing the audience’s favor, but for their conspicuous divergence from the prevailing Eurovision style. Their performance on the night of May 8 did not secure a spot in the finals, echoing last year’s outcome with the TuralTuranX brothers. Both years, Azerbaijani representatives performed twelfth and showcased a reserved stage presence, markedly distinct from the flamboyant displays often celebrated at Eurovision.
