Europe Day and Songs Performed by Magda Mendes in Baku
Baku / 07.05.19 / Turan: A reception and a concert on the occasion of Europe Day was held on May 7 at the Nizami cinema in Baku. The event was organized by the representation of the European Union in Azerbaijan.
The head of the EU mission in Azerbaijan, Kestutis Yankauskas, addressing the guests, noted that the European Union is working with Azerbaijan and other interested parties to expand security, stability and prosperity.
"We celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement signed between Azerbaijan and the European Union. Serious work is underway to complete the new Partnership Agreement, which will serve as a modern basis for our future long-term relationship," he said.
Referring to EU-Azerbaijan cooperation in the field of trade, energy, security and transport, Yankauskas recalled the upcoming visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Brussels to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership.
"This joint initiative, which in the interests of the people brings the countries partners in Europe with the European Union together on the basis of common values, mutual interests and obligations, is an attempt to build a more promising, stable and democratic region," the Ambassador said.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Ramiz Hasanov also noted that there are mutually beneficial relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union. "The European Union is the main trade partner of Azerbaijan. At the same time, we cooperate widely in the field of politics, economy and tourism," he said.
The Deputy Minister noted that the forthcoming agreement in terms of quality will raise cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union to a new level.
At the concert on the occasion of the Day of Europe, songs were performed by the Portuguese singer Magda Mendes. --0----
