The Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Azerbaijan, Embassies of the European Union member-states in partnership with the Administration of the State Historical-Architectural Reserve “Icheri Sheher” and European Movement Azerbaijan are pleased to announce the holding of the EuroVillage on 1-2 June 2013 in the hitorical old city of Baku. The EuroVillage will showcase current EU projects in Azerbaijan as well as present European culture through the perspective of EU countries. The event aims at highlighting the diversity and wealth of European cultural life by presenting dances, music, food, languages and many other activities to the Azerbaijani public.
The EuroVillage will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on 1 and 2 June in Icheri Sheher. Over the week-end the visitors will be able to attend the EU and EU member-states stands, get acquainted with the projects implemented through EU assistance in Azerbaijan, listen to various presentations and speeches by the EU Ambassadors, attend dance, language classes, sing in karaoke, taste European food, participate in numerous quizzes and win various prizes. Every evening will be rounded up by concerts performed by prominent Azerbaijani and talented European musicians featuring both classical and modern music.
"The EuroVillage is an important tool illustrating the enhanced relationship between the EU and Azerbaijan. It showcases EU involvement in Azerbaijan and invites the visitors to participate in and taste what Europe has to offer; through this it will raise awareness about the EU and its Member States in Azerbaijan, and hopefully once the visa facilitation agreements are signed this November it will have helped our guests to decide on their next trip destination to Europe. I invite everybody to come to see, learn, dance and experience Europe with the EuroVillage", said EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia.
The official opening of the ceremony is scheduled to take place with participation of EU Ambassador Roland Kobia at 12.00 on 1 June to be followed by the award ceremony for this years' kids' drawing competition, organized by the EU Delegation. -0-
