In a celebration of artistic exchange and cultural diplomacy, the Ambassador Cultural Club in Baku hosted the third phase of the “Hungary Through the Eyes of Azerbaijani Artists” project, featuring a curated exhibition of paintings inspired by Hungarian traditions and heritage. The initiative, organized by the Hungarian Embassy in Azerbaijan and the independent arts platform «Arts Council Azerbaijan», marks a deepening of artistic and cultural ties between the two nations.
The project began with a meeting between participating Azerbaijani artists and the Hungarian ambassador, laying the foundation for creative collaboration. This was followed by an interactive workshop where artists immersed themselves in Hungary’s rich cultural traditions. The exhibition represents the culmination of this journey, presenting works that capture Hungarian folklore, historical landmarks, and everyday life through the distinctive styles of Azerbaijani painters.
For visitors, the exhibition offers a visual journey into Hungary’s soul. Each piece reflects the artists’ interpretations, fusing Azerbaijani artistic sensibilities with Hungarian cultural motifs. The featured artists—Aynurə Mustafayeva, Röya Həsən, Elşən Rzazadə, Leyli Musayibova, Nailə Məhərəmova, Məryəm Kiblayeva, Leyla Orucova, Nərgiz Quliyeva, Ruslan Rüstəmov, Sevinc Gəncəli, Təranə Əliyeva, Hüseyn Kəngərli, Sevda Rüstəmova, Nigar Əliyeva, and Mələk Abbaszadə—each brought their own creative voice to the project.
Through vibrant colors and diverse techniques, the exhibited works serve as a bridge between cultures, showcasing both the common threads and unique aspects of Azerbaijani and Hungarian artistic traditions. Attendees at the opening event engaged in discussions about the pieces, exchanging insights and forging new artistic connections.
“This exhibition is more than just an art showcase—it is a testament to the power of culture in fostering understanding and strengthening international ties,” said Dadash Mammadov, head of the Arts Council Azerbaijan. “It reflects the role of the arts in diplomacy, bringing nations closer through creativity and shared expression.”
With initiatives like this, cultural collaboration continues to flourish, reinforcing the role of art as a universal language that transcends borders, fostering dialogue and mutual appreciation between Azerbaijan and Hungary.
