New Monograph by Jamil Hasanli Published in the West
The well-known multinational publishing Routledge: Taylor & Francis Group issued the monograph by the Azerbaijani scientist Jamil Hasanli, Foreign Policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan: The Difficult Road to Western Integration, 1918-1920. The book is part of a series of research at Johns Hopkins University.
The book presents the Western audience a scholar research on the history of the APR and can be considered the most fundamental study of this period in the history of Azerbaijan.
The book explored questions of creation of APR, its steps to integrate into the civilized world, diplomatic activity between the West and the East.
The author used rare archival documents from the Archives of Azerbaijan, Russia, the US, France, Britain and other countries.
On the basis of scientific analysis Hasanli shows that the integration of Western values in Azerbaijan began 100 years ago: the first foreign policy moves, diplomatic struggle for the liberation of Baku, relations with northern neighbors, dramatic steps of the Azerbaijan delegation at the Paris Peace Conference and the de facto recognition of the republic by the Supreme Council of Versailles.
The author shows that the APR appeared in the situation that arose in hard diplomatic struggle in the aftermath of the First World War.
The proclamation of APR and its activities in terms of attempts to recreate the Russian Empire within the boundaries of 1914 demanded great diplomatic skills from the government leaders of Azerbaijan.
The reader is given extensive information about the founders and leaders of the APR: Mammad Emin Rasulzadeh, Alimardan Bey Topchibashev, Fatali Khan Khoyski, Nasib Bey Yusifbekov, Hasan Bey Agayev, Mamed Hasan Hajinsky and others. -06D--

Events in history are not merely dates or fragments of historical memory; they leave deep marks on cultural memory as well. Artists, in particular, transfer these events into their works, shaped by their personal perceptions and interpretations. January 20 is one such event that has found its place in cultural memory. Although this topic is relatively less explored in contemporary art, it has never lost its relevance. How should this historical memory be represented? How does it manifest in art?

Each year, on January 13, Lithuania commemorates the Day of Freedom Defenders, honoring the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence in 1991. This pivotal moment in Lithuanian history marked the triumph of an unyielding will for freedom over Soviet oppression. Fourteen lives were lost, hundreds were injured, but the desire for liberty remained unshaken. The Day of Freedom Defenders is a solemn occasion for Lithuanians to reflect on their past and the true cost of freedom.
