Azerbaijan's response to Iran's provocations and the claims of the spy network to create the state of "Karim"...

Baku/15.03.23/Turan: On March 11, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan announced that an Iranian military aircraft flew along the state border. According to the official statement, the plane flew 3-5 km from the state border between the two countries, and in some cases completely over the state border. After that, the Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan was summoned to the Foreign Ministry where he was handed a note.

After that, the pro-government media of Azerbaijan reported that as a result of a special operation of law enforcement agencies, 32 people were detained in Azerbaijan who carried out acts of sabotage under the "veil of religion". Without specifying the source of the information, the media reported the names of the detainees. Photos of several of the above-mentioned persons were also attached to the message.

"These people carried out propaganda on social networks in favor of Iran, as well as at religious meetings, performing tasks from abroad, in order to undermine the traditions of tolerance that have developed in Azerbaijan. They called for the creation of the "Karim" state, openly called for a violent change in the constitutional order of Azerbaijan, fulfilling orders from foreign intelligence services, propagandized religious radicalism," the report says without specifying the source.

Political commentator Zardusht Alizadeh comments on the matter in the "Difficult Question" program.

According to him, the aggravation of relations between Azerbaijan and Iran after the 44-day war is explained by the fact that the defeat of Armenia does not fit into Iran's plans. "Of course, this is a strange position for a Muslim, Shiite state, and we can only regret it," the observer said.

Referring to the flight of an Iranian military aircraft along the state border of Azerbaijan, Alizadeh said it is unlikely that this could pose a threat to Azerbaijan.

"The military plane, without violating the airspace of Azerbaijan, flew along the border. This does not pose a particular threat to Azerbaijan," he said, noting that the purpose of this Iranian action remains a mystery to him.

"I don't understand what this meant in Tehran. Experienced diplomat Mohammad-Javad Zarif was responsible for Iran's foreign policy for a long time. Subsequently, he was replaced in this post by a much less competent Hossein Amir Abdollahiyan. Besides, Abdollahiyan is a representative of certain circles who have their own ideas about foreign policy."

According to Alizadeh, Iran is trying to scare the leadership of Azerbaijan by saying that the people in Azerbaijan may rise up, overthrow the government, and create a Sharia state.

"But they have no idea which universities Azerbaijan passed through while being part of the USSR. There is no ground for building a theocratic state in Azerbaijan.

Yes, after the collapse of the USSR, interest in religion increased throughout the post–Soviet space, including in Russia to Orthodoxy, in Azerbaijan and other Muslim republics to Islam. There are more people studying Islam, moreover, Azerbaijani citizens, going to Arab countries and Iran, began to receive religious education. But such people do not even make up 1% of the population of Azerbaijan. There may be 100 thousand people in the whole country who observe fasting, perform prayer, attend a mosque, well, let it be 200 thousand. For a population of 10 million, this is not such a big figure," the political scientist noted.

Alizadeh noted the senselessness of the transition to violent methods of struggle. "Since the Azerbaijani state itself is prone to violence, it will not be possible to overthrow it by force," Alizadeh is convinced.
