Resolution of the French Senate, Russian attack on Poland...
Baku/16.11.22/Turan: The French Senate adopted a resolution in support of Armenia and proposed imposing sanctions against Azerbaijan. The resolution requires the withdrawal of the Azerbaijani armed forces from the sovereign territory of Armenia and respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia, calls for the release and return of all Armenian prisoners of war to their homeland, the French government, in cooperation with European partners, to introduce diplomatic and economic measures and sanctions against the property of the Azerbaijani authorities, also proposes an embargo on gas and oil imports from Azerbaijan, confirms the need to recognize the so-called Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and invites the government to open a humanitarian office in Nagorno-Karabakh, invites the government to consider ways to support the strengthening of Armenia's defense capability.
Why does France want to spoil relations with Azerbaijan?
Meanwhile, two Russian rockets fired at Ukraine last night hit the village of Przevodov, located 5 kilometers from Poland's border with Ukraine. Polish media reported that two people were killed and there was damage as a result of rocket attacks.
Will NATO intervene? Does Russia provoke the third world war?
Political commentator Shahin Jafarli reflects on these topical issues in the program "Difficult Question".
According to him, the resolution adopted by the French Senate is advisory in nature and is not subject to mandatory execution by the government.
“It is doubtful that this resolution will be implemented. The government's policy in the South Caucasus region and the approaches of the French Parliament are different. So that the adopted resolution will remain on paper. However, it is also impossible to consider a nuclear power, adopted by the parliament of one of the leading countries of the world, as completely insignificant. In any case, the decision of the Senate will have a negative impact on the Azerbaijani-French relations,” the observer believes. In his opinion, this will further strengthen Azerbaijan's distrust of France.
“France did not have much authority in Azerbaijan anyway, and this document dealt another blow to the reputation of France. Such decisions can strike at its policy in the region, create complications for the French business in Azerbaijan,” Jafarli said.
As for the rockets that hit the Polish village of Przevodov and caused the death of two people, according to Jafarli, there is no concrete evidence of who exactly launched the rocket.
“Obviously, NATO is not eager to go into open confrontation with Russia because of this, from its point of view, an insignificant incident. And the version according to which the missiles that flew into the territory of Poland could be launched by Ukrainian air defense during Russia's massive missile strikes on Ukraine is quite convenient for the West. This is a fairly rational position. To punish Russia, NATO has enough opportunities without it. Arming Ukraine, it beats Russia. In this scenario, NATO's direct intervention is unnecessary,” the expert believes.--0--
