Yerevan submitted peace treaty proposals to Baku - Pashinyan
Baku /16.11.22 / Turan: “Armenia has submitted its proposals on a peace treaty to Azerbaijan, we are waiting for Baku’s response,” Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Wednesday in parliament.
According to him, Armenia's position is such that "Azerbaijani troops must liberate the occupied territories of Armenia" to the positions that existed before May 11, 2021.
Pashinyan claimed that the international community supported this position of Armenia and expressed the hope that the CSTO would do the same. At the same time, he called this situation strange, since the CSTO, and not the international community, should have expressed open support for Armenia.
“I hope we will fix this consensus on November 23 at the CSTO summit in Yerevan,” Pashinyan said.
He further called Baku to start "a direct conversation with representatives of Nagorno-Karabakh on the rights and security of the Armenians."
According to him, this is the "Russian position" and it is "not on the issue of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh, but on ensuring the security and rights of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh," - he said.
Pashinyan believes that the international community also understands that there should be an "internationally visible conversation about the rights and security of Armenians" between the representatives of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan.
“If we solve this problem, of course, the Republic of Armenia is ready to sign a framework peace agreement with Azerbaijan based on mutual recognition of territorial integrity and sovereignty,” Pashinyan said.
As for the unblocking of regional communications, if this issue is not a reason for escalation for Baku, then the issue can be considered resolved, Pashinyan concluded. -0-
