Society is pregnant with indifference
Baku/01.11.21/Turan: The public of the country is shocked by the incident that happened the other day in the Imishli region where an 11-year-old girl was hospitalized at 31 weeks pregnant. Since the woman in labor was a minor, the doctors turned to law enforcement agencies. The child underwent a cesarean section. The family abandoned the baby. The young woman in labor was placed in the intensive care unit.
The State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs reported that an investigation was launched into the incident.
According to the General Prosecutor Kamran Aliyev, in connection with this case, a criminal case was initiated under the Articles of the Criminal Code: 149.3.3 (rape against a person under fourteen years old) and 150.3.3 (in the case of sexual violence against a person under the age of fourteen years); the identity of the suspect was established and he was detained.
How could it happen that the parents did not notice that their daughter was 31 weeks pregnant? Why did not the relevant departments know about this?
The chairman of the Azerbaijan Children's Union (ACU) Kamala Agazadeh answered these and other questions in the “Difficult Question” program.
According to her, even adults who have been raped do not dare to tell their families about what happened. What can we say about minors? They are afraid of judgment.
“We often explain this by the fact that when children face indifference, irresponsibility of parents, lack of attention, lack of trusting relationships, they remain silent. And this attitude of parents towards children is not an isolated phenomenon,” Aghazade said.
The chairman of the ACU noted that such cases are regarded as latent crimes. This case became known only because the girl was pregnant. Many such crimes remain unsolved when there is no pregnancy.
Kamalya Aghazade appealed parents with request to take care of their children, to be attentive with them, watch their facial expressions, their reactions, and most importantly, become their friend and thereby gain their trust. Only then can such tragedies be avoided.-0--
